On Day 19, we packed up and hit the road once more. Our goal for today was to cross Idaho to get a little closer to Teton National Park in Wyoming.
One of Kevin's friends from childhood lives near Idaho Falls, so we stopped by to say hello and see his new house and adorable new baby girl in the early afternoon. Along the way to his house we drove through an amazing area that we plan to return to in the future--Stanley, Idaho. We stopped there to gas up and grab a late breakfast from a local coffee/food cart (yum!) and fell in love with the river that winds through the area. We definitely plan to return to this area and stay for a bit. Kevin wants to get a fly fishing guide when we go back. It definitely felt like a scene from a movie or a painting!!! I look forward to getting to know the area better!!!
After spending a little time catching up with Kevin's buddy, we got back on the road to find our campsite for the night. We drove to a reservoir known as the Palisades, and stumbled upon a campsite called Elk Creek on our way to a different campsite, so we decided to check it out!
With spacious private campsites and a nice lake nearby, we quickly decided that site 11 would be our home for the night. We enjoyed an evening walk down to the lake and then enjoyed a star-lit dinner by the campfire before calling Day 19 a success!!!
It's been amazing finding so many great campsites near water this year! One of our goals was to get Scout some more chances to run around and to swim, and I think we are succeeding!!! Reno loves the hikes...all the water...not so much.
It's hard to believe we have been on the road for almost three weeks!!! It's definitely a lot of work, but the carefree moments of pure peace, and nature, and calm keep us going!!!
